In Progress

This space is where you'll be able to see the process behind my pieces as they develop, and view the different stages of progress that bring each piece closer to completion. From sketches, painting, and detail marking.

Here is what I'm currently working on :D

Project 1

Work in progress shot

So right now I'm working on a giant eye. I sketched this on my ipad in 2023 and I believe I've called it 'Purple and Pretty' on my portfolio page. In a way I love the chaotic scribblings that have come together to form an eye. Purple is a colour I'm fond of so when I decided to add purple accents to both highlight the eye and the colour itself. Often when I sketch eyes, they are monochrome so I wanted to add a touch of colour. Transforming a sketch largescale on a canvas can be a tricky process as you have to stretch everything out whilst also making sure it keeps the same proportions. It can be difficult to replicate it exactly, however this is still a work in progress, and a sketch is just a rough outline of what the final outcome may look like. I have always enjoyed drawing eyes and I try my best to capture all the elements within my drawings and paintings. I am excited to see how this will turn out. I plan to add texture as well as I've bought some heavy structure gel that I am excited to incorporate into this piece as soon as I figure out how to use it :P

Project 2

Project 2 sketch

This piece isnt based off of a sketch I have previously but one day I just had an idea that I wanted to execute. So a loose idea of what the end product will look like is the sketch in green pen. So I am more fond of lighter colours in terms of what I like to wear and buy, however I have an appreciation of darker colours. I think dark shades of certain colours are beautiful and deep. So whilst I don't like to wear these colours, I wanted to do a piece to highlight my appreciation of these darker colours. This piece is a long process though as it requires many layers of paint and the stripes need to be done separately. I want the stripes to look the same as the type of stripes you may see painted on walls in houses. That's the inspiration at least. The final colour will be a lovely crimson, as soon as I've completed the green stripes. I am looking forward to seeing this come to life. Sometimes it is odd to think about how a mere idea or image that was in my head can begin to take a physical form. Every time I step back to view a finished piece, no matter how many times I've done this, I will still feel disbelief that something that was just a thought or a daydream, is now physically before my eyes. I hope my passions feel shared through my website :-)
